Trauma-based & Family Psychotherapy For Angry, Anxious, Depressed, and Frustrated Families

Anchored Child & Family Counseling

Thanks for your interest in my practice.

I see children (3-12), teens (13-19), young adults (college age – 28), parents, and families.

I partner with clients and their families to provide psycho-education (education on diagnosis and symptoms), support, and guidance for depression, anxiety, grief/loss, a traumatic experience, bullying, school-avoidance, ADHD, poor grades, and parenting skills. I also see some adults struggling with trauma and life transitions.

You can learn more about my practice here:

I currently accept the following payments:

  1. Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield (including Medical Assistance)
  2. Optum/United Behavioral Health (not including Medical Assistance)
  3. Cigna
  4. Aetna
  5. UPMC Commercial Plans and UPMC For Kids (not including Medical Assistance)
  7. Self-pay/cash pay clients

I accept all major credit cards including checks or cash-pay. I offer a variety of convenient forms of payment to fit your needs.

Sliding Scale fee/payment arrangements:

*I offer a sliding scale fee arrangement to clients who truly need assistance paying their bill. Please ask about this service if you are interested.  I have clients sign a notice during the first session stating the pay agreement with dates on when each payment is due. Proof of income will be requested to put on file. At the end of the month/billing period, you will get a receipt, called a statement, which lists what you are responsible for paying for.

Individual Therapy and Family Therapy:

Individual therapy is often a great place to learn new skills with a trusted therapist. Sessions are often 45 minutes to 60 minutes ( i.e., 1 hour). If you are using your insurance, sessions will be billed to your insurance company if I accept that insurance payer.

I will ask that you sign up through my electronic billing program which I will discuss with you before we meet. Please have your insurance card and email address ready. I will use these two things to get you started as soon as possible. Once you sign up with my billing program, you will be able to track your sessions, your co-pays, and your insurance payments all online. You will also be able to put your credit card on file so that each system will be billed without you having to input that information each session.

I offer individual therapy that is a collaborative journey between client and therapist.

Family therapy focuses on the relationships within a family system and strives to provide a platform for open communication and problem-solving. Education on mental health conditions and how to cope is also provided.

Trauma Therapy

I am certified as a clinical family trauma and child & adolescent trauma therapist. I utilize cognitive behavior therapy from a trauma perspective including a bio-psycho-social lense to assess and work with clients. If you are interested in trauma-based therapy with me, please indicate that on the form below.

I do offer teletherapy or online sessions to residents of Pennsylvania. All teletherapy or online clients in PA must visit the office at least 1 time a month.  *No exceptions as a result of state guidelines. Tele-therapy will be offered to self-pay/cash clients and those whose insurance will cover the service.

Online Psycho-education meetings:

I offer online 2x per month psycho-education meetings for 30 minutes to answer mental health questions or provide suggestions regarding mental health. Psycho-education meetings provide individuals with the opportunity to have their mental health-related questions answered. This service also provides consultation to families needing immediate, short-term support. *This service may be covered by insurance. The fee is $40.

*CORONA VIRUS UPDATE1050 Lincoln Way, Ste 1 - Pittsburgh PA

As we get closer to the middle of May states across the nation are passing laws, reducing restrictions, and enacting new regulations to help support the transition from stay-at-home orders to the normal flow of life again.

Unfortunately, Gov. Wolf hasn't reduced the mask wearing restrictions in Allegheny County. However, he has announced most of Western PA will be moving to the yellow phase beginning May 15. This means that we can slowly regain some normalcy.

But until the mask wearing restrictions are reduced or eliminated Anchored Child & Family Counseling will remain closed. I will be making small transitions back to the office over the course of summer and seeing some clients in-person based on need. The office will be open starting June 17, 2020 with the goal of remaining open until/if state laws change in response to Corona virus restrictions.

In the meantime, I will be continuing teletherapy sessions until mid-June. My office assistant and I will be monitoring your insurance policy to ensure that you will be covered for teletherapy and that your copayments will be waived. At this time, it appears that all major insurance companies (UPMC, Highmark, Aetna, Optum/United, and Cigna) are continuing to provide coverage for teletherapy.
